As we all know plagiarism can be used everywhere. It is seen as fraud and has many consequences. There are many issues of plagiarism in education and business that will be discussed below.

 

Plagiarism is education

Education is a right we all have, with this right comes the access to information that will provide us with educational need. We a learners, students or even lecturers have a responsibility in ethical and legal use of information.

 

Plagiarism is a very serious offence that many of us don’t seem to realise and it can affect our future lives and career opportunities. Plagiarism deprives students from learning on their own and doing educational activities on their own. They do not learn by stealing or copying another source, it prevents them from reaching their own potential. Plagiarism is an easy way out for many students who do not take interest in their education, but they fail to see the damages and consequences it can have in the future.

 

Plagiarism is Business

Plagiarism also exists in the business world. Mostly consumers get caught. Many businesses are not clear about their products benefits and features. They are also not clear about the services they provide. Many business want high profits and will go to any extent to get their even if it means robbing their consumers, this usually does not last for a long time. Business need to be open, honest and reasonable to their consumers as well as other organisations they deal with.  Plagiarising can cost a business to lose it image, consumers, its profit and also lose its ability to deal with other organisations.

Creative commons

This organisation created copyright-licenses called Creative Commons Licenses which is free to the general public. This allows users to take a creation, develop it, edit it or even share it. There are six types of licenses based on four rights. These licenses prevent plagiarism as it is seen as their own creation once it has been developed. These licenses also ensure that plagiarising cannot take place.

Reasons and consequences for plagiarism

There are a number of reasons why people plagiarise. Many are not interested in making an effort and some find it easier to use someone else’s work. Other plagiarize in order to achieve something without doing much for instance a business product or service.

There are many consequences for plagiarism. Students or learners can be suspended. They can also lose their right to examinations and further education.

Business can lose their image, their contacts and deals with other businesses. They can also lose their right to be in business gain.

There are a number of reasons why people plagiarise and there are also many consequences involved.
